largage prévu entre le 18 et le 20 aout (jour théorique 20 aout)

- HEBERGEMENT PREVU DANS LE GYMNASE de FAYENCE, du 17 en soiree au 22 aout ,

avec acces gratuit, à la piscine municipale pour les participants sur les jours inactifs

HISTORIQUE

Commémorations de la libération de Fayence, , où le 3/517th et le 4th parachute battalion ont été largués par erreur

- Dans le cadre des commémorations du débarquement de Provence du 15 aout 1944, nous souhaitons mettre en avant les mal largués du serial 7 comprenant le 3/517th et de la 596th AEC, qui atterrirent en majorité autour de SEILLANS, mais aussi autour des TOURETTES et aussi entre FAYENCE et CALLIAN…

mais il y a aussi 50% des anglais du 4th parachute battalion (serial 12) et de l'intégralité du serial 11 emmenant la moitié du 5th Scottish Parachute Battalion

- Le 15 aout vers 4h30 du matin, 1 des 2 avions egarés du serial 4 (509th CT) venant de FOLLONICA, est largué entre FREJUS et SAINT RAPHAEL

vers 5h, une batterie du 460th Pfab (517th PRCT, serial 8), soit 100 parachutistes et leur 4 canons venant de MONTALDO, sont largués trop tot et tombent au Nord de FREJUS

- Originellement prevu comme objectif du 1er RCP, le LUC verra des avions egarés de toutes les unites ou presque, larguer leurs sticks dans ses environs, notamment certains des 16 avions du serial 5 ( 509th CT) qui ne larguerent pas par erreur sur Saint Tropez

- D'apres le temoignage de veterans français, en charge de secourir des otages devant etre fusillés par les allemands dans le cimetierre de BORMES LES MIMOSAS, decouvrirent que ces derniers furent liberés par des parachutistes americains egarés

AIRCRAFT

1/ DROP on FREJUS or LE LUC, on 18th or 19th at 11 AM

2/ DROP on "zone de vol à Voile de FAYENCE" (glider airfield)

paradrop expected between 20th and 21st of august ...

- Accomodation in Gymnasium of FAYENCE, from 17th to 22nd of august,

including an unlimited access to the swimming pool

arrival expected on 18th after 17:00

NB : you will need to have your own bedroll

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

FAYENCE :

We want to honor the Dragoon's misdropped of the serial 7, 3/517th and 596th AEC who did land around SEILLANS, TOURETTES, FAYENCE, MONTAUROUX and CALLIAN, as well as the half of 4th British parachute battalion, of the serial 12 and the whole 5th Scottish of the serial 1who did make it on the 15th of august 1944

- On august 15th at 4:30 am, 1 of the 2 lost planes of serial 4 (509th CT) from FOLLONICA, drops his 463rd Pfab stick between FREJUS and SAINT RAPHAEL

at 5:00, a 460th Pfab complete battery (517th PRCT, serial 8), soit 100 paratroopers et 4 Howitzers, from MONTALDO, are dropped too early and land in the Northern ourskirts of FREJUS

- Originally planned as 1er RCP's main target , le LUC will see many lost planes of most units drop their sticks in its vicinity, including some of the 16 planes of serial 5 ( 509th CT) which did not misdropped on SAINT TROPEZ

- According to french veterans in charge of rescuing french ostages about to be killed at BORMES LES MIMOSAS's cimetery, these ostages were eventually freed by misdropped US paratroopers

- 1er RCP/Bataillon de CHOC

- UNreinforced M42, M1C helmet, jumpboots or buckleboots M43

- HBT coverall or 2 pièces suits, M1C helmet, jumpboots

- 2nd BRITISH AIRBORNE BRIGADE, gear and weapons allowed, including LEGBAGS

- ABCENTER suit ( HBT coverall, M1C helmet, jumpboots)

- M43 + HBT pants or M43 (without airborne pockets), NO MARKING, M1C Helmet, jumpboots

FORBIDDEN SUITS:

- NO US NORMANDIE suits (82nd/101st)

- NO US HOLLAND/Ardennes suits (82nd/101st/17th/13th)

- NO post WW2 suits- (Korea, Indochina, viet-nam, Algeria etc...)

- NO dark eye-glasses

- NO GO-PROS on HELMETS (find another place)
